Team Brandon was contacted by Samantha's mother shortly after seeing a news segment on NBC 10 about Team Brandon. The news segment spoke of the positive effects that sports had on Brandon. Samantha, who is also confined to a wheelchair, became inspired after hearing about this, and got involved in wheelchair basketball. Basketball was a winning solution for happiness with both Samantha and her family, as she was able to get out and be involved in activities that able-bodied people take for granted. Samantha now needs a new wheelchair so she can continue being involved in sports.
